Caorle, a miniature Venice

Caorle, a miniature Venice

You will have already guessed it, we at Casale are waiting for you with open arms and we really have a lot for you to discover. This is also because of our location: we are just a few steps away from some of the most evocative places in Friuli Venezia Giulia and, why not, also in nearby Veneto.

The small and characteristic Caorle is only 30 km from the Agriturismo Casale ai Prati, and is really worth a day trip.

Caorle, the ancient city of the Triveneto area

Its origins are evidently Roman, and this little jewel will amaze you thanks to its suggestive atmosphere. How could it be any different, given the romantic seafront and the numerous surrounding rural landscapes?

One of the unforgettable features of the place is its "living cliff" made of rock masses decorated by artists from all over the world. Every summer, in the month of July, great master sculptors gather to create characteristic works of art immortalized forever on the rock.

The history of the Madonna dell’Angelo church

The expanse of rocks is not the only wonder of Caorle: the seafront will also make you fall in love thanks to the splendid Church of the Madonna dell’Angelo. This is an architectural gem that has attracted the attention of tourists and passers-by for centuries.

The building is characterized by a history which, year after year, never ceases to fascinate. On 31st December 1727, Caorle was hit by a violent storm which overcame the abandoned embankments and invaded the inhabited area. Numerous written testimonies of the time say that the Church of the Madonna dell'Angelo, the treasure chest of the statue of the Virgin, remained dry. It truly was a miracle, since there was no door to close the structure.

The Santo Stefano Cathedral

Another pearl of the place is the Duomo di Santo Stefano, a cathedral in refined Byzantine style which boasts a series of paintings. Among these, a Golden Altarpiece from distant Cyprus stands out. Almost in support of the structure, at its side, stands an imposing bell tower built back in 1707 with a height of 48 metres.

Did you know that Caorle was originally a small island characterized by canals which over time were filled in, creating useful space for the construction of structures and houses? A real tangle of streets that over time has made this town so characteristic.

The west and east beaches

How can we not mention the beach? The seaside area extends for over 15 km and is divided into Spiaggia di Ponente and Spiaggia di Levante and every summer welcomes many tourists to whom it offers various comforts.

Caorle is a truly special place, where culture and entertainment meet to make your holiday unforgettable. I can assure you that its sea, history and rich tradition will not leave you indifferent and this "miniature Venice" will find a place forever in your heart.

We can't wait to tell you personally about this little gem that can be easily reached from our agriturismo... many other places in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto are just waiting to be visited!
